The corner represents the climax of experiencing the building and often we encounter that it is given special attention in the treatment of facades. In villa M we have figuratively tried to oppose this reality, by designing the building with three squares intersecting each other where the place where the walls would meet at right angles is shaped in the form of an arc. So human eyes scanning through the facade aren’t presented with a corner where they stop but continue through the planes until they return to the initial point. Spiral stairs and the round window which illuminates the staircase reinforce this identity also. The architecture represents an artistic counterpoint to the ‘glorification’ of the corner turning the attention to the whole composition, making the facade the main visual element. The facade is designed with bricks and its harmony with the dark color is easily perceivable. The black color, although not often used in homes or other residential buildings is adapted carefully and is located in surfaces where more attention is required and are rich in architectural elements.
